Renewable Energy Resources
Today, 98% of Colorado’s energy is produced from fossil fuels—coal, oil, and natural gas. They are plentiful and inexpensive today, but their supply is finite and their combustion has environmental consequences. In contrast, clean energy resources are constantly replenished and economically advantageous to the communities in the Golden Plains Area.

Solar Energy Resources:
    >> Coming Soon

Solar EnergyIt is estimated that Colorado – one of the sunniest states in the country – could produce as much as 83 million megawatt-hours per year of its electricity from solar technologies. Solar energy can be used to generate electricity and to provide heat for buildings and water.

WindColorado abounds in opportunities for community-based, or small scale, wind power. Unlike large scale wind power, these opportunities tend not to be concentrated geographically in any one area. Both the wind potential and the technical challenges can vary significantly between neighboring areas.

BiofuelsBiofuel is broadly defined as solid, liquid, or gas fuel consisting of or derived from biomass. Biofuels reduce harmful emissions, provide an economic boost for agriculture and rural communities, and improve our energy security.
Geothermal Resources:
    >> Coming Soon

GeothermalGeothermal power is energy generated from the heat stored beneath the Earth's surface. Geothermal energy has the potential to meet a large portion of the nation’s energy and power needs. It can help the country diversify its renewable energy portfolio and enhance energy security. Geothermal energy is safe, clean and reliable.
Energy Conservation Resources:

ConservationEnergy efficiency, saving energy wherever possible, is the foundation of our New Energy Economy. All the solar panels and wind turbines in the world will only do so much if energy is still being wasted. Just as you would never think of throwing trash out of your car window, don't be careless and wasteful with energy.
