Article from Michelle Alcott, Colorado Rural Development
Council
As you may now be aware, the Colorado Rural Development Council
in partnership with the Center for Rural Affairs and USDA-RD is holding a
"first ever" event of its kind in Colorado! The Colorado Entrepreneurship
MarketPlace is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2008 at Otero Junior College
in La Junta, Colorado.
The event will have registrants from the entire
state of rural Colorado. The MarketPlace will travel each year throughout rural
Colorado, so we will be in your area in the future!
The vision of this
event is to assist in growing rural Colorado's economy from within through this
annual entrepreneurial event. It will be the means by which to promote
entrepreneurial growth throughout all of Colorado. It will be recognized
throughout the state as the pivotal resource for emerging entrepreneurs, as
well as established entrepreneurs. It will result in increased entrepreneurial
activity, job growth, and community growth that can be used by both youth and
adult entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurial activity is one of the key
solutions to energizing rural community sustainability and growth. To enhance
the success of entrepreneurs throughout the state, we will focus on three key
elements of success for entrepreneurs: 1. The idea and vision. 2.
Marketing their product or service. 3. Financial planning to make their
business successful and sustainable.
Colorado Entrepreneurship
MarketPlace will be modeled after two similar events held annually North
Dakota, i.e. "The MarketPlace for Entrepreneurs";
www.marketplaceforentrepreneurs.org
and Nebraska, i.e. "MarketPlace: Opening Doors to Success".
http://rfa.org/marketplace/home.
The
"Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace" will consist of three parts: 1.
Networking and information 2. Teach-ins or Learning Opportunities. Dealing
with topics such as The Nuts and Bolts of Business Start-up, Marketing on a
Shoestring Budget, Branding Your Product or Service, Your Online Business -
Kick It Up A Notch, Advertising Products and Services, and many others! 3.
Community Development - Nurturing an Entrepreneurial Environment.
There
is no other event like this in the state and we intend to connect with
organizations throughout the state that are involved in entrepreneurial
activities. Should you have any questions, please call me at 303-934-9117.
Please take a moment to visit our website at
www.ruralcolorado.org and click on
the Entrepreneurship MarketPlace Page. Your help in spreading the word about
this important event is an invaluable resource for all of rural Colorado!
