Monthly Cattle Drought Map Access

A while back, the USDA - World Agricultural Outlook Board and the
Joint Agricultural Weather Facility began putting out a map entitled U.S. Beef
Cow Areas Experiencing Drought.
The map is updated towards the end of
each month and is intended to combine NASS representative statistics of beef
cow numbers (the shaded colors) and the geographical encompassment of drought.
In reviewing the map, it is important to recognize that the cow population
numbers have not been reported by NASS for all counties. Those unreported
counties are represented by a gray shading. At the time of this writing, the
most current update of this map reflects conditions as of May 27,
2008.
As parts of the Golden Plains Area are now considered to be within
one of those drought areas, we felt that we should share the map with our
